Though it starts off with displaying a perfect image in the starting and finds it extremely difficult to decode the signals once it receives to any interference which is most of the times due to weather conditions which is termed as cliff effect. It comprises of a 16:9 HDTV display capable of 720p and 1080i/p formats. A digital receiver and an antenna. This way you can change parts quickly as technology changes and not have to spend a fortune with a integrated TV set. A good HDTV will last you at least 10 years or more. Watch out for digital ready sets which only support 480i/p or the standard definition formats. They will not work with HDTV.

Analog Switch-off dates

While many broadcasters have already switched over to digital TV there are still some that use analog or both to serve their customer base. There is however a official switch-off date for most countries. Analog switch off is scheduled for June 12, 2009 in the United States, August 31, 2011 in Canada, July 24, 2011 in Japan and 2012 in the United Kingdom. This should be ample time for consumers to get a digital converter box or buy a new DTV ready television set. While there are not too many converter boxes on the market at this time there are more and more creeping up as we get closer to the switch-off dates.
