It is very true because it is after the arrival of this technology that we have been able to come out of many noise problems and signal reception problems. The best part is that in digital televisions despite of noise and interference we get an output image which was never there with the analog technology.

High Definition format is what the whole digital TV experience is all about. There are 3 high definition formats for broadcasters to chose from. With 720p the picture is 1280×720 pixels, refreshed at 60 complete frames per second. 1080i and 1080p where the picture is 1920×1080 pixels. In a progressive format (p), the full picture updates every 60th of a second. In an interlaced format (i), half of the picture updates every 60th of a second. When you see ads for HDTV these are the formats used and create a far superior picture quality in comparison to analog. TV becomes DVD quality like and above.

Digital TV supports a wide variety of picture formats which makes it attractive to broadcasters. Broadcasters can choose their own combinations of size, aspect ratio and interlacing. HDTV for instance is one of the best uses of digital television and uses one of two high definition formats (1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio). Standard definition TV using digital programming uses a 4:3 aspect ratio and a definition around 640 x 480 pixels. Digital TV can be broadcast at a data rate of upto 19 megabits per second to 2.375 Megabytes per second to give you an idea of how fast the speed is.
